Patients who suffer from chronic pain have been openly reporting to their physicians that since medicinal marijuana is becoming a more acceptable form of pain management the need for opiates is little to none.

Opiate addiction is a serious problem in the United States and deaths related to opiate overdose have slowly been on the rise. Patients who had previously been addicted to painkillers reported cannabis helped them drop their addiction.

These statements have lawmakers captivated, but the lack of research supporting these claims have doctors hesitant to prescribe medicinal marijuana freely.
